Trains, planes and camel rides are just a few modes of transport the Getaway team use as they explore the globe on eight amazing journeys this Thursday, September 4, at 7.30pm.
Join Catriona Rowntree as she travels the great rivers of Europe on the only 100 per cent Australian-owned and operated cruise ship, the Sapphire. Taking in the delights from Budapest to Amsterdam, the Sapphire, on her maiden voyage, stops off in Vienna where Catriona is given the honour of christening the vessel. The river cruise then continues into Germany where Catriona samples the delights of Bavaria.
Getaway’s latest recruit, Kelly Landry, also has a water journey – at a faster pace than the idyllic European cruise. Kelly visits Fiji, the land of plenty, where three hours’ drive south of Nadi she hits the ocean on a jet ski safari tour. Covering over 60 km in four hours, the tour is limited to four people, meaning you choose how you want to spend the time – snorkelling, exploring the island’s hidden wonders, sun baking or have fun on the jet ski.
Dermott Brereton travels to the Emerald Isle and takes in one of Ireland’s most beautiful and scenic drives. Located in County Kerry, this famous 170 km circular drive is called the Ring of Kerry. Starting and finishing at the town of Killarney, the drive takes in all that is magic about Ireland: the history, the people and the postcard-perfect scenery. This trip is a must for anyone wanting to sample the real Ireland.
If you would like to experience an amazing journey here in Australia why not follow Natalie Gruzlewski and head to Alice Springs. This adventure involves a four-legged friend, a camel. Just outside Alice Springs, the Frontier Camel Farm runs sunrise camel tours along the dry Todd River. The trip ends with a slap-up cooked breakfast that’s worth getting saddle sore for.
During this Getaway special you can also sample journeys on the Eurostar from London to Paris, jet-boating, heli-kayaking and longboat adventures, all from you sofa.
