Join Catriona Rowntree as she travels the great rivers of Europe on the only 100 per cent Australian-owned and operated cruise ship, the Sapphire. Taking in the delights from Budapest to Amsterdam, the Sapphire, on her maiden voyage, stops off in Vienna where Catriona is given the honour of christening the vessel. The river cruise then continues into Germany where Catriona samples the delights of Bavaria.

In Holidays In The Sun, Natalie Gruzlewski heads to St Thomas, capital of the US Virgin Islands, where there is sunshine year-round. The islands, surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, are east of Puerto Rico. Once a pirate haunt, St Thomas is now the most commercial of the islands, with plenty to offer the seasoned shopper as well as over 40 beaches.

Closer to home, Jason Dundas hits the small island of Beachcomber in Fiji. This tiny place has a big reputation – it’s where you go to party. It offers accommodation to meet all tastes and wallets, although you shouldn’t expect to do much sleeping at this party paradise.

Join guest presenter Deborah Hutton as she explores Edinburgh in Scotland, where author JK Rowling penned the first Harry Potter book, this week on Getaway, Thursday, July 19 at 7.30pm on Nine.

Deborah pops into the Elephant House coffee shop where the budding author wrote book one, then visits exclusive five-star Balmoral Hotel where most recently Rowling put the finishing touches to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the final book in the phenomenal series.

Catriona Rowntree continues her Quinhai-to-Tibet train journey, arriving in the capital, Lhasa, Tibet’s spiritual heartland.

Lhasa (Place of the Gods) is one of the world’s highest cities and a dream destination for adventure travellers. Here Rowntree discovers the “real Tibet” at the Barkhour square, a market place and pilgrimage circuit, and pays a visit to Potala, the former home of the Dalai Lama.

Jason Dundas takes a lads’ road trip from Coffs Harbour to Broken Head on the New South Wales north coast in search of good waves, great fishing and quiet beaches.

The 15 th birthday special travels back to the premiere of GETAWAY on May 14, 1992, with the original team of Rebecca Harris, Jeff Watson, Anna McMahon, David Reyne and Tina Dalton, and includes interviews with Lochie Daddo, Jane Rutter, Brendan Julian, Chrissie Morrissey and Sorrel Wilby.

From highlights of GETAWAY stories where two presenters visited the one location together including the very odd couple pairing of “Mr Neat” David Reyne and “Mr Messy” Ben Dark on a Whitsunday cruise. GETAWAY LIVE FROM NEW YORK

Watch to win holiday in New York!

The Nine Network presents GETAWAY LIVE FROM NEW YORK, hosted by Natalie Gruzlewski from dawn in the Big Apple, on Thursday, May 24 at 7.30pm. This interactive special will give viewers the opportunity to vote for a selection of Getaway stories they want to see from other parts of the world – including the best of Europe, the best ways to experience Queenstown in New Zealand, and some all-time favourites such as the Taj Mahal and Lord Howe Island.

Every viewer who votes will go into the draw to win a trip for two to New York including two economy airfares, seven nights’ accommodation at the W Hotel and spending money. Before each commercial break viewers will be given a choice of three stories they would like to see after the break and invited to SMS their choice of A, B or C to 191 999. During the break, votes will be tallied by state-of-the-art software and Natalie will then announce the results and introduce the winning story.

Australian Getaway Star Catriona Rowntree is probably Australia's most famous traveller. Well, that depends who you ask... But certainly, she is Australia's most televised traveller and one who has always had a chance to speak her mind about the places she's gone!

The Getaway reporter is currently preparing for a trip to China, but is scheduled to highlight the gem in the Chinese tourist industry's crown, a train line to Tibet. The railway has been described by the Dalai Lama as "the second invasion of Tibet." So this Aussie reporter approaches the journey with some angst, the angst that is measured by all of us who love to travel: does the place itself outweigh the cost to the local population of our travel?
